Abstrak

Background: The high number of elderly people, the problems faced by the elderly are also getting higher, especially in experiencing high levels of anxiety caused by various factors such as thinking about advancing age so that it has an impact on the inability to meet needs and think about problems that occur in the family. Insomnia in the elderly is a condition in which individuals experience a change in the quantity and quality of their rest patterns that cause discomfort or interfere with the desired lifestyle. Objective: To analyze the relationship between anxiety and insomnia in the elderly based on a review of research journals. Methods: This research is a literature study that uses 8 articles that have been published through the Google Schoolar, PudMed, Science Direct databases with the keywords anxiety with insomnia in the elderly. The search is limited to 2015-2020 which can be accessed for free full text. The article is then subjected to a process of identification, screening, and article inclusion. Results: Based on the results of the literature from the 8 articles reviewed, it stated that 7 articles discussed the level of anxiety and the level of insomnia. And 1 article only discusses the level of insomnia. Of the 8 articles reviewed, there were 5 articles with mild, moderate, and severe levels of anxiety and insomnia. While the 2 articles that experienced anxiety levels and insomnia levels were mild, moderate, severe and very severe. Then 1 article that only discusses the level of mild, moderate, and severe insomnia. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the level of anxiety and the incidence of insomnia in the elderly.
