Chemotherapy is the administration of drugs to kill cancer cells and also to slow/stop the growth of oncogene (cancer) cells in the patient's body. Chemotherapy patients need family support that has the closest relationship with the patient. Family support reducing the patient's anxiety level where the level of anxiety is an event that arises in a person characterized by the emergence of feelings of fear in depth and continuity. Therefore, handling is needed in dealing with anxiety such as family support. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between family support and patient anxiety levels in undergoing chemotherapy at Santa Elisabeth Hospital Medan. This study used a Correlation Design with a cross sectional approach. The population in this 163 people. Sampling using purposive sampling technique with a sample of 52 respondents. Data was collected by filling out a questionnaire. The results showed that family support for patients undergoing chemotherapy (82.7%) was good, the level of anxiety in patients undergoing chemotherapy (59.6%) was moderate anxiety. Data analysis used the Spearman rank test with a value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05) showing that there was a significant relationship between family support and anxiety levels in patients undergoing chemotherapy, with a value of r = 0.556 with a strong correlation. Advice to the health care team to be able to provide appropriate interventions for patients undergoing chemotherapy by providing support and paying attention to the symptoms of chemotherapy so as to reduce the patient's anxiety level while undergoing chemotherapy.
