PENGARUH REBUSAN DAUN SUKUN (Artocarpus altilis) TERHADAP HISTOLOGI HATI MENCIT (Mus musculus) YANG DIINDUKSI ALOKSAN

Abstrak

Alloxan can cause disruption of insulin production resulting in hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia causes Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) resulting in oxidative stress and liver cell damage. Hyperglycemia is the main cause of Diabetes Mellitus (DM). The use of natural ingredients such as breadfruit leaves can be used as an alternative treatment for diabetes mellitus because it has flavonoid compounds.. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of boiled breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) leaves on the liver histology of mice (Mus musculus) induced by alloxan. This study used a non-probability sampling technique with experimental research methods, using a sample of 24 male Swiss Webster mice (Mus musculus) which were divided into 6 groups, namely the negative group (without treatment), the positive group (aloxan), the comparison group (aloxan). + glibenclamide), dose I, dose II, dose III (aloxan + breadfruit leaf decoction) each 5 gr, 10 gr, 15 gr. The results of the study showed that no hydropic degeneration was found in the group that was given a decoction of breadfruit leaves. In addition, the mean value of liver damage was obtained in negative control 0, positive control 4, comparison control 1.25, dose I 2.5, dose II 2.5, dose III 1.25. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the decoction of breadfruit leaves has an effect on the liver histology of mice induced by alloxan.
